Since no one has responded to this thread, I guess since 1972,
megaphones have never been installed on MFI 2.4!![]()

Hey Rico, I have them on a 2.4S with carbs. I have heard that you really need the back pressure for the MFI. But I have no experience. Trying to go from a carb guy to a MFI guy!

I had a 2.4S with MFI and a sport muffler. I put megaphones on and it ran like doo doo at part throttle but went like a bat out of hell with the throttle whacked all the way open.
The muffler creates back pressure - something MFI cars seem to need/love.
The megaphones will adversely affect the way the car runs unless you retune the MFI to the megaphones. My advice (which isn't worth a damn) is to leave things the way you've got 'em.
A special side note: my car actually ran BETTER when I ditched the sport muffler in favor of a stocker. Again, more backpressure.
Good luck.

When my 2.7 RS spec with MFI was being built, I had the same conversation with my mechanic - he has 30 years working on 911s. He stated what the others have said, you do need backpressure or your performance will suffer. You could probably get by with a dual-out but his recommendation - which I went with was a single-out Danske sport. I have no regrets, but it certainly does not have either the look or sound of megaphones.
