    Agreed! Love it! Want one.

Nice thing about it is its going to hit the 996 GT3s for about $20k in value when the 997s start landing. Already seeing ads for 996 GT3s with sellers saying "New GT3 on order..."
    Cheers,

You and me are on the same wavelength--I managed to squeeze an extra $10k though. Higher cost of living down here!

I had the opportunity to buy a GT3 at WS last month with only 2,500 miles on it. It was low $80's. Great car and a great buy. Porsche killed the old ones when the new body was announced and IMHO it is a prettier car.

FWIW; if you have checked out E-bay recently there is a local "leftover" 996 Cabriolet that "could" be bought for < $70K. 83 miles on it. Dealer held it too long. Rather than dumping it when it was a year old he waited until it was 2 years old and will now really take the real beating. Car listed for close to a $100 K.
They also have 2 2004 Boxsters as well as 2 2005 Cayenne S models.

This is a "stinky" looking auction. Check out the retraction.
    E-Bay number: 4619490790

BTW: How does Porsche "make" their numbers? I understand that they don't report like a normal publically traded company.
Sorry for my cynicism but I don't see these things flying out the door like they'd like me to believe.

    Tom,

Porsche seems to be making their numbers here in LA. Plenty of new 997s running around along with no shortage of $150k+ turbo cabs etc. How they make their numbers is by charging for every single option. I had a 996 C4 that had a sticker of $95k--crazy considering the base car was close to $70k. There is definitely major profit in $6k carbon fiber dash kits and $7k aero kits. Also there is no shortage of Cayennes running around so they are hitting their numbers.

On the GT3 front, I think the $80k cars will be running below $70k by the end of the year when the 997 GT3s start landing. And as far as looks go, the 997 interior kills the 996s (that cars real achilles heel) and that double mid exit pipe on the new one says it all!
    Cheers,

    Steve

Damn....even at 70K the GT3 will forever remain my wet dream. Considering I can only drive it a couple months a year, a car costing that much is a joke to anyone living the 'blue collar dream'. It's all about the perspective baby. I love my 71TRSwanabe and will probably keep it till the dead fingers are lifted from the shift knob. LMFAO!

Higher cost of living? My bro-in-law lives in Chatsworth and it isn't anymore expensive there than in metro-Seattle. That said, I wish I could squeeze that extra $10K out of her, but she wants a new ride, too. She now has her sights set on late '60s 280SL 'vert w/ MFI. Have you priced those lately? She's got the attention span of a squirrel when it comes to cars; last month it was a 911 Targa and before that a Healey 3000. CRIPES!

Hell, if I can squeeze a GT3, it will be my daily driver, rain or shine. If it is insured, it is replacable which is one reason it is so enticing. That's why I can't daily drive my 'S'. I can't insure the thing as a daily driver at replacement value.
