Center mounted cooling fan?

Has anyone reproduced a shroud to mount the cooling fan in the center of the engine like the 917s? How did Porsche charge the battery in this type of setup with such limited space? This is for a side project. Thanks for any help in advance.

Marty Schneider of MSDS did this on his 914-6 twin turbo. He used a factory fan and bevel gears with a modified 3.2 intake and, I believe, a custom shroud.

Even if you get the shroud, the fan, drive shaft and gears would have to be sourced/made. You think high butterfly and slidevalve are expensive

Oh, and Porsche used a remote alternator with underdrive pulley and a belt running off the crank pulley.

Thanks guys. JB Racing has a 935 engine they are doing right now. But it has a crazy sick factory fuel injection type system on it. I doubt they are going to let me handle any parts so measuring is probably out. Anyone know how the fan was driven?

Shaft, driven off the crank pulley via belt, to bevel gears.

I think these items are still available from the factory.
