    SWB Electrical item...what is it???

There is a ceramic block in the LHS firewall with two sets of pos leads terminating there. Each wire is set apart from the other with small 3mm screws. The first set has wires from both the B+ on the alternator (red/white) and a black wire from the starter switch and battery. The second post has a red/white wire going to a relay in the firewall. These are all 12-14GA wires.

Second question is...what is the realy for? It seems that it must be for the fuel pump...although I have rewired my pump to the front of the car so am not using it...

Here is a photo of the wire diagrame with the two things circled...and a photo of the ceramic type block. It looks in the diagrame that the two screw attachment points are connected...although they do not seem to be.

Looks to me like just a terminal block providing a point to connect multiple wires without an inline splice.

    Michael,

Yes, this is what I have been using it for...for years. A good place to connect my timing advance light to...beats what I have to do on the 356.
I just can't figure out why there are two terminals (always hot and switched voltage). Also, it looks in the wire diagrame that the two are connected by an internal trace or something...I do not see one and mine has cracked in half eliminating a possibility of connections.

    Any other ideas?
How about that relay...? On the relay, the yellow wire on term 86 is from the terminal on the starter. The rest is visible on the photo i think.

    Cheers,
    Michael

On my 66 it has the altnator wire connected to it so when the alt.is on creating power it junctions there then goes to the battery if you look at the diagram it is at the right of what you have circled.

Terminal blocks like that are typically isolated from each other with no internal connection. The connection on the wiring diagram could be showing a hard jumper from terminal to terminal (usually a strap) that fits under the wire lug and is tightened down by the screw along with the wire. Your jumper strap could be MIA.

The purpose of terminal strips is to provide either a breaking point in the circuit or to to be used to connect multiple outputs from a single input by either adjacent terminals using straps or jumper wires from non adjacent terminals

Mike, it's the contact point for the ballast resistor relay circuit.

    All is revealed here. . . .http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showt...hreadid=252299

Thanks John...great thread you started on PP -- lots of good info. In my new set-up with MSD and Pertronix, I now have eliminated the relay, the ballast resistor and a few other things and have only kept the terminal block, msd, and VR in place (fuel pump is up front). Looks like I should be fine.
I have, of course, kept all the parts for later when needed.

    Cheers,
