    Please help ID these Fuchs

I have 4 Fuchs wheels and am unsure what they originally fit. Numbers inside are: 901-361-016-00; 5 1/2 x 14; ASI 62; 267386. I was told these were from an early S, but I am not sure. My photos are too large to upload with this post. Thanks in advance, George Alspaugh, San Diego

The original OEM usage- 1969 911E

It helps that I used to own a 1969 911E with these as OE wheels. Of course they ended up on a lot of other late 69-70ish Porsches also. BUT they were the wheels on a new1969 911E and 1970 914-6.

Thanks for the replies and education. Now, any idea as to value of these wheels? Thanks, George

    wheels and more

Okay, I know the 914/6 came with these wheels. Mine did and I had the window sticker that included them. I also think the early 911E and possible T's with the hydroneumatic suspension or Boges without the koni or S options came with them.

At Partsheaven's swapmeet, their was a very good or better set of the 14's with old very good tires included for $400 or best offer.

They did not sell at the end of the day.

I looked at a 70E targa last weekend for sale and it had 5 deep sixes, 3 were non heart? Eric mentioned this one for sale on this list. I saw it beforehand.

The owner bought the car 15 years ago and did not drive it much. He said they had the same tires on them. I told him about all the tire casings you see on the freeway seperating from old tires and he said he would tell the new owner to buy new tires.

I think the tires on my S are older then 6 years. What do people think about tire lifespan these days.

    keep driving safely

    Scooter,

In the case of old or questionable tires, I would tend to error on the safe side (what a weird expression) and go for new. A tire serious mishap could be curtains for your car, or worse.

A less exteme example were some 10 year old Dunlap SPs I had on my Audi. They were always driven up here in cool temps and relatively short distances. When taken on a prolonged drive at 80 MPH in 90+ degree heat, the tires started radically deforming to the point they were dangerous and undriveable.

I asked the owner of a local tire store about tire age and he said age has nothing to do with tire degradation. It is exposure to UV that kills a tire.
I have one car that is rolling on 33 year old tires and they are in great shape. The car has always lived in a dark underground parking lot, out of the sun.
