    Roof Ski Rack?

    Hi,

    Just recieved a COA today & it says "Roof Ski Rack / 8 Leather Straps"

    Anyone have photos of what this looked like & how it mounted - especially on a 69 soft window targa? Better yet, is there one out there for sale?

    can u plz. post the factory option code that waz on da coa for the roof rack. I don't think that waz from the factory but a dealer after market part.

    roof / ski rack

    there is no option code listed - at the bottom of the coa, there is a heading of "Optional Equipment" that shows:

    US Bumper
    White Fog Lights under Bumper
    Antenna
    Engine Noise Suppression
    Loudspeaker
    Tinted Windshield
    Roof Ski Rack/8 Leather Straps
    Tinted Windows
    Recaro Sport Seat - Left
    Recaro Sport Seat - Right
    Tonneau Cover
    Dunlop Tires


    but no codes..........

    Also, forgot to mention I have paperwork (MSO) from Porsche that shows this was delivered from factory to RCAF air base in Zweibrucken Germany, this leads me to believe that it was purchased directly from the factory & there was no dealership involved.

    Roof Ski Rack - Factory Option

    Steve,

    Factory order number for Roof ski rack with 8 leather straps (for 2 pairs of skis) is 9507 and part number 901.801.015.20. Yes, this is factory option for ‘O’ series (’65 – ’67) 911/912 production. (At least according to my sources.) Sorry no photo – good luck hunting.

    Paul thats for a later 72/73 model, earlier one may be different or number just changed for model year.

    In a pre-1970 option list that I have it shows the following:

    9503 Roof luggage rack with straps for skis
    9505 Roof rack
    9506 Leather straps for roof rack
    9507 Roof mounted ski rack
    9508 Roof rack for Targa.

    Elsewhere there are two pictures - both seemingly for coupes:

    1 a ski rack described as:

    "ROOF SKI RACK Chrome-plated. Goes on and off in moments, attaches securely to rain gutters. Eight leather straps hold two pairs of skis firmly, without rattling.
    When ordering, be sure to specify whether rack is for Coupe or Targa."

    2 a luggage rack described:

    "ROOF LUGGAGE RACK Chrome-plated rack is custom-fitted to your roof ... for fast, easy installation and removal. Rack rests on rain gutters; a single wing-nut clamp on either side anchors it firmly in place. Converts to a carrier for two pairs of skis by the addition of eight leather straps.

    This luggage rack is only listed for coupes while the ski rack is for both (although they would seem to be different as you had to specify what one you needed). I don't know what the option "9508 Roof rack for Targa" refers to.
