    H1 vs. H4 Headlight lenses

    Hello Fellow Listers,

I am interested in a set of yellow H1 headlight lenses, but I have H4's.

    Are they interchangeable?

    Thanks in advance, Tom

They will physically fit but using H1 lenses on H4 headlamps (or vice versa) will upset the light pattern & give you inferior light output.

Thanks Andy, for your rapid response, I guess, I'll have to wait until a set of H-4's comes up for sale, unless anyone has a set out there they want to part with?? Tom

If you're talking about waiting for a set of H4 yellow lenses I'm afraid you're in for a long wait... they don't make them !

Your best bet is to buy some yellow 'glass paint' from a model/hobbycraft shop & paint your existing lenses.

Found this old thread while searching for a comparison between H1 and H4.... Pretty interesting.

I bought a car a few months ago in the USA and it has H1's.... I want to swap to yellow lenses and bought a random set here in Holland, not knowing what I would receive.

They just came in and they appear to be H1's, which I checked according to pics I took in Essen..... Now, the guy also sent me the buckets, but those are H4's.... He did mix up H4 buckets with H1 lenses..

Comparing H4 and H1 lens patterns, they look pretty much the same to me... Just some very minor differences.. Anyone else been looking at this...?

Also, there is a company in Germany who claims to sell yellow Bosch H4 lenses for those who are looking for a set...... The H4's below appear to be painted. The original H1's look way darker, thus better.

I believe they make plastic ones. Sierra Madre Collection has some plastic yellow H4's.
