    2.0S carbs on 2.2T engine - Specialist needed !

    High all,

I own a 2.2 T with good running engine and his stock carbs (40TIN) having 27 venturis.

I have found a set of 40IDA with 32mm venturis. Do you think it could be interesting to fit them on the 2.2 T engine like that ? I think I will have more power at high RPM because of the air flow given by 32 venturis but may be that I will have problems at idle and/or mid range ..

    Many thanks for advice

I put a set of 40IDAs on a 2.0 T engine and used this jetting chart from the Rennlist site. Worked out perfectly and the difference in power is noticeable- you'll like the Webers!

    Nice !

So I have to find 30mm chokes instead of 32 that are on actually. Jets are more easy to find.
You have absolutely no problems at idle rpm ?

    many thanks

No problems with idle at all. With the jet prescription from the Rennlist chart, then engine pulled strongly to redline with great midrange. Try it- you'll be surprised.

I sold that 2.0 engine when I put the 2.7 in my car, but I'm still using the same Webers with the 2.7 specs from the chart and it worked out perfect.

You shouldn't have any problem finding the 30mm venturis as well as the jets and emulsion tubes used from someone here or on Pelican.

Since you already have them, I suggest using the 32mm venturis as equipped. I had 30s in an otherwise stock 2 liter T and it created no problems.

The effect on engine idle due to venturi size is minimal or nil. Idle speed is determined by the throttle plate opening and A/F via the idle ports. However, at mid-range rpms, larger venturis may create some throttle response issues, but attention to float bowl level and accel. pump volume can compensate. I'd try the 32s first. Their resale value is good and relatively easy to R&R in case you want to try 30s.

You're speaking of 2.0 T and the rennlist chart does not show settings for it ... there is also the emulsion tube issue ... do you know where I can find the F26 one ? Is it common part with all Weber carbs ?

So I will try the Rennlist settings for my 2.2 first, so it will give :

    Venturi 30, 125 mains, 180 air, 55 idle and F26 emulsion tube

I think we exchanged e-mails on ebay regarding the venturies and idle jet sizes - I think I have all the venturies, jets, etc you would need - let me know if interested.
