How many sportos were made in 1969? How rare are power windows, sunroof, etc?
What is the market value for one with under 100K documented miles, no rust, and good mechanical/ cosmetic shape?

new book which I highly recommend as it has, among many other things, THE most complete and accurate early 911 production information I have ever seen published....
Anyway, in 1969 there were 2826 911Es produced with 583 Sporto 911E engines (they have their own "E" type number) produced. There probably were a couple spare engines produced but using these numbers 20.6% of 911Es that year were sportos. Since the Es were the luxury cruisers of their day, a higher percentage of them had Sprotomatics. Probably the same luxury comment applies for sunroofs, so it might be higher than 10%, which is what some estimate for sunroofs. My personal experience on early 911s is that sunroofs were rare, probably 10% or less.
From 1968 through 1973 there were about 6,100 Sportos across all models. Total cars produced was about 72,000. The average for Sportos then ,was a little over 8%, so you can see 69 911Es had a higher percentage of Sportos.

I have just been going throught the same questions myself, having just acquired a one-owner '69E survivor. Actually, by the numbers they are rare cars, but obviously of limited appeal.
This site has some good info, particularly the instruction manual for the Sporto gearbox!

Tommy,
Power windows were available from the B programme - '69 MY - onwards.
Electric sunroofs were available from the start of the 911 / 901.
Not that many of either were common particularly the PW option but became more commonplace as buyer demand changed in the late '70s.
Fortunately for me my car came with both as standard on my UK delivered car.

I just haven't seen enough of these to put a real price on it.... On ebay there was a 72 with all the same options but it was fully restored and got one bid at 45K, reserve not met, then there was a 72 on ebay that had some rust, electrical issues, fiberglass decklid, and it hit $16K or so.
This one is very original, 76K miles, little to no rust, stainless exchangers, chain tensioners, mechanical restoration 30K miles ago, all the docs, 2 owners, power windows and sunroof, added AC, only negative I see is that the paint is guards red and the prev owner says it was originally a butterscotch.
I am struggling to put the right price on it because there aren't many to compare to....
Sounds like might have been Bahama, too bad it was changed. Value? I'd value it appo. as that of a 5 Speed car of similar condition, do you have a value for one of those? In today's market, getting a very accurate value is difficult at best. You can always convert it to a manual for a couple thousand or less. Factor that into your value if you want. If you are buying for yourself and want a sporto, no deduction. If you are going to flip it, that's another story.Originally Posted by tommybarlow23

All my 911's are like stock portfolios that I can drive and appreciate. Anything I buy I have to evaluate them based on the possibility that I may have to liquidify them at any given time. My gut tells me that this one should fetch around $22K on an open market, but I may be wrong, what do you think? Is the market softer for sportos than manual.
