Carl,
My dad took the train from Baltimore to Hoffmans in NYC in '59 to take delivery of the first convertible D in the country.
He drove it back from NYC in the dead of winter with the top down.
I'd love to find out where that car is now.
There weren't that many D's to start with you have the chasis number?

It probably had it's first rust bubble within 24 hours of that trip!

1971 2.2 911 S - now back in the UK - sob!
1975 Carrera Targa (ROW) - missed.
One of us is fast becoming a valuable antique.

Also do you recall the original color, was the D ordered by your dad or was it ordered by Hoffman.
Regards, Richard
thanks for the list I actually have that but those are not dealers they are dist. I was looking for a list of all the dealers. Anyone? Super cool info on Hoffman and nice picture. That early D story would be a great one for one of the P magazines. You should write it. I would read it. So funny about rust but probably true. I think they rusted on the ship from Germany to the US>

The second sheet has a classic tag line...
