I need your help. I can pick up a 72S engine with about 60K on it out of a damaged car. Any idea what it is worth? It ran good at the time.
Thanks,
John

There is a post in the parts for sale section here and the person selling his '72S motor thinks it's worth $25,000.00! I don't think it's sold yet, to my knowledge.
There is another '72S, 10,000 miles on a complete rebuild but with IDS webers, for $6,500.00. It hasn't sold in over 2 months.
I would say $6,500 - 8,500.00 w/ the correct MFI is what I would expect to see it trading hands for.
Pump and manifolds selling for 3500-4000 alone,, I'll buy all the 2.4l S running motors out there for $6500..

I would buy it too @$6500!Originally Posted by glaverbel911

You can always get lucky sometimes no doubt. But when i'm restoring something for a customer and we need rare item "X", that kind of availability and price is seldom.
A few years past when I think back, of a few 4-cams i could have bought for $15k-20k make me spin. I probably would have stuffed into my 56' VW pickup come to think of it.

Good point. Regardless, my offer to anyone wanting a complete '69S MFI for $3500 just needs to ask.![]()
