    911S 66 vs 67 is there a difference?

Since my engine rebuild for my 66 is going to take a little while, I bought a MY68S alu engine (408XXXX engine code 901/02) for temp. use / spare.

I have looked in my little specs dated Dec. 67 but can not find a straight answer.

Are the S engines 66-68 w/ engine code 901/02 all the same for cam and pistons? Are there small mods or was it just the numbering that went from 96XXXX to 408XXXX?

    Regards,

    Richard

My quick look showed that both the 67' and 68' 901/02 engines have the same compression ratio of 9.8:1, same ports 36 & 35mm, and same size valves 42 & 38mm. The hp and torque specs are the same. I only see the 901/02 engine being used in 67' & 68'. Hopefully someone with more experience will chime-in.

    67-68

They are the same internally. Some 67s might have forged rocker arms.
