    Race gearbox, what is it?

On Don's site he has a picture of the Kardex for the
    1968L Trans Am car here.

The Kardex lists the gearbox as 901/90 serial number 9282017.

The options list says sperrdiffential (LSD?) and Flügplatzübersetsung
which translates to "special ratio for airfield racing"

Now I've seen airport gearboxes listed as 901/52 and 901/82 (
or possibly 911/82) but never, and I can't find any references to,
    901/90.

    What exactly is this gearbox?
