Track Tires & Oil Cooler Clearance?

I'm running 205/50/15 RA1 tires on 15x7 Cookies with no clearance or rubbing issues under stock '69 911E fenders for my POC track events. I want to upgrade to Hoosiers, which are 3/4" wider. I'm worried this additional width inside (3/8") might be enough to rub against my oil cooler lines behind my rear tire. Anyone running this combo on a narrow bodied early car on the street or track? Thanks.

If you are sure of the tire size difference, I'd just hang a couple of pieces of 3/8" wood or something similar on the oil lines where there is the potential for rubbing, drive it around the block and check to see how you did.

I've decided to have (2) Hoosiers delivered and mounted at Wheel Enhancement. We'll put the wheels and tires on my passenger side and see if I have clearance by the oil cooler lines. Fingers crossed...

    Sandy,

I cannot run Hooisers on my 67S without widening my fenders.

    They will rub

There are enough variations between 911 bodies that they might work on your car. Don't give up yet.

Definitely. I've got my "fitting" at Wheel Enhancement next Friday @ 1 PM. Fingers still crossed.

But I've also checked into Hankooks that are the same width as the RA1's...

Thanks to all for the input. Sadly, the Hoosiers did not fit. I thought the oil cooler lines would be the issue. But I had plenty of clearance there. It was the outer fender edge that on a full shock compression would be Rub City. So, I'll be on fresh RA1's for the remainder of the 2008 POC track season. 2009? I'm not sure...
