Thread: Change over to 7R crankcase

Timing of transition to 7R crankcase

What were the engine serial numbers at which Porsche made the change to the 7R crankcase? I know that the change came about during the MY73 production run. I believe that the change was made to support the 911/83 2.7 RS motor. Every CIS T that I've seen has the 7R case, which is probably because the CIS T started production around the same time as the 2.7 RS.

Does anyone have the change over numbers for the T, E and S engines?

Can't answer the question but my 73T, with motor number 613 5495 probably built May--July 1973, had the 7R case.

I looked up that for a 73 CIS the serial # were 6133001 to 6136092.
