    nice 67 Normal

    http://silverstonemotorcars.com/inventory.html

Laughable price (even for 2 years ago)
I saw this car before it was cleaned up and the stipes were added.
It was/is a nice 901/05 with the wrong rocker trim and later seats.
A real nice car for the price it was sold at (well less than $10,000) about 3 or 4 years ago.

Since you're so sure that the price is laughable, and you have some chronological tracking of the car, could you please elaborate in more detail. I'm not connecting with your facts. The car appears to be very well done, even with a few incorrect features. Most surviving 67 911s have been extensively altered, this car maintains it's originality pretty darn well. What am I missing here? What is the car worth based on your observations?

Duane, It's a 67 Normal... Not 911S, unless you meant 67 Normal, and I'm too stupid to recognize that you meant 911's not 911s's.... I didn't do too well in grammar in skool...

I think it has a 911S engine in it... I think the / in what they call the case ID number is actually a "1" in the case number....(my guess).

It looks well done, but honestly $69K? I'm not going to say laughable, but I would say extremely optimistic.

    Certainly.

For one it is NOT an "S", it is a 901/05 "Normal"
All the details and even the COA says so.
If it was an S the price would be right. Maybe under.
As it is MISrepresented it is laughable because Normals were going for less than half that at the height of the market.
Would that they were as I have a 901/05 and as great a car as it is and as much as I love it I would be very tempted to sell it if I could get close to 67 G's.
I know my car is comparable as I didn't buy that one because it was a twin (100#'s off) of mine and ironically even had the same issues (for two the '68 rocker trim and the later seats) and I did not want to take on two (of the same) projects at once. Kind of wish I had.
I saw it at the Sports Car Workshop both before and after it was bought and was told of its transformation (the stripes).
Did the buyer rebuild the engine to S spec ?
    That I was not told.
Even still that would not make it an S.

Nowhere did I say the car was not in good shape.
    I think it looks nice.

I assume you are the seller or the owner and am not sure what you're problem is.
However if you are an honest man you would correct the description.
Keep the price the same and I for one will hope it sells at that.

Hi Eric, I meant 911's, not a 911S I'm grammer challenged also, see you L.A.?
Hi John, No it's not mine, already have a 67. I was referencing
the "well less than 10k price of several years ago". Frankly, when someone is trying to sell their Porsche, it should between an interested potential buyer and a seller. Your comments had nothing to do with the current condition of the car. It may not bring the asking price but it is worth far more than $10,000. That's what my problem is You shot off your comments with no consideration of the damage you may have caused the seller. Any intelligent potential buyer would inspect the car before buying, period. If your hope is that it sells well you perhaps should not have commented about the price of the car in the first place. With that said, I mean no ill toward you, after all I asked if you would PLEASE elaborate with real facts or back up information, nothing more. I happen to love the early 911's, have had a few myself and still have 3 of them. It's also my opinion, current value is a relative term determined WHEN money changes hands. FYI, I owned a 73 Porsche that recently sold for silly money, but the transaction was private and numbers were never made public. Remember, it's not how much you pay for something when you buy it, it's how much you sell it for when your done with it, or something like that Peace

BTW, I live about a mile away from the Barrett-Jackson and Russo-Steele auctions. Reality came home to roost this year. However, fully documented cars still brought some decent prices. The B-J no reserve makes the seller's hair stand on end during these times. Many guys were buying back their own cars and knowledgable buyers with cash were getting good deals by taking advantage of the price correction. The key word here is know the car before you bid. 2 similar appearing cars could have quite a spread in their selling price.
Anyway, have a good day and hope to see you down the road. If your going to the Lit. meet let me know, I'll buy the drinks.

I must remember how powerful words can be.
I regret the use of the word "laughable".

If you re-read my post - starting at the heading - the word I use to describe it is "nice"
Was, and looks to be even more so than the last time I saw it.

That said, what I object to (if I may) is the description in the add that CLEARLY inplies that it is an S.
All evidence in the photos and document provided show it is not.
Granted no effort is made to hide it (such as changed vin or rebadging), yet if you do know about these cars you know what it is. And isn't.
The 911's excuse doesn't wash - the add states it is an S,

You may be concerned about damage done to the seller by my stating the price it was fairly sold for.
I am concerned about someone that , not know as much about these cars might think that is is an S.

    Fair enough ?

And to clarify so as not to be the person who pulls Chuck off the cocktail circuit now that he and his car are superstars...

My intended meaning of "a real nice car at the price it was sold for" was that it was a great deal - NOT that it was only worth that much.
It is worth easily well more than twice $10,000.

Agreed, good point. You didn't mention the "S" word in your initial post and I didn't pick up on it, and I own several S's. If you would have asked up front about the S suffex, you would have saved me a lot of typing on this stupid computer What about LA? Eric and I are planning on being there. It's a pretty neat social event and you see lots of goodies you don't need, but buy anyway, not to mention the cars

I probably should have done that - figured anyone who hit the link would realize the point I failed so miserably to make.
Makes you appreciate poetry - 4 lines of words can say an awful lot - or absolutely nothing at all.

    Glad that is straightened out.

I will be in NorCal at the end of march.
Wish I could make it down.
