    Restored sun Visors

    Hi:

The sunvisors in my 73 911 are in decent shape in that there are not rips or marks, but they have really lost there shape. The inside materials have broken down.

I want to have them properly restored. Does anyone know someone that does this?

    Thanks,

    John

    Check the 365 registry

I recall seeing a good article on how to split the seams repaint the frame, replace the padding and reglue the seams. Sorry no direct link.

There's an article in 356Registry magazine Volume 32 No. 2 on page 63 that shows how to do it. If your a member (and you should be) just check your back issues.

Search, and you will find ... http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...ghlight=visors
I used the crowd in Depew and everything was fine but, as I mentioned in the thread, they came back slightly larger. Now, knowing this fact, I am sure that a chat on the phone could take care of this by impressing upon them exactly what you require ...

Thanks for the assistance. I am off to try to locate Vinyl Specialists in Depew New York.

If I can get these done, I will let everyone know how it went.

    Thanks again,

Okay, that was easy. I used the internet yellow pages and called information and there is no listing for Vinyl Specialties.

If anyone can help me locate them it would be greatly appreciated.

I called them today and here is the deal for others who are interested.

The cost to do both is $74.00 including shipping. They can do them, but they cannot attach the mirror to the passenger sun visor as Porsche used some heat process they do not have access to. Further, there will be a 3/4 inch binding which is sewn as a border around the entire perimtere of each visor. 3/4 of that inch does not show on each side as that is the total and when folded over to meet the other side on expects that each side will show approximately .36 of an inch per side. Not a big deal, but not oem.

So, this begs the question of are we better off with a later model sun visor or the restored oem item? Neither will be eom, so do you flip a coin on this?

What does everyone think is best? I am confused on this one.

p/s if you go to their website you can see the binding.
