::SWB Foam Heater Hoses Engine Bay::

The discussion/confusion re: size and color started here:
    http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...ad.php?t=28570

    What is the correct size?

    What is the correct color?

The attached pic shows three hoses:
    1. For size reference only - 1.144" OD
    2. Orange - 1.786" OD - pulled from an early 68 912
    3. Orange - 2.838" OD - origin unknown

Here's my spare. . . as I said on the other thread I think the very early cars may have used a black hose. . I have a few of these pulled from cars "that didn't make it"- will get some dimensions.

I am actually considering using one of those orange foam pool toy "noodles", hotwired to reduce the diameter, as a replacement!

Here are the tubes off my '65. They are about 1 3/4" OD. This car came with this color. If the change in color happened it must have been early '65.

I believe the 2.838 to be from a mid 70's 911. There is a hose connected to the foam.

I just got a kit from CSP for these tubes, the kit came with an inner hose as pictured above, and then just a black foam outer hose, like water pipe insulating foam.

I've tried using just the black foam hose before, and it quickly melted....

For the orange hose, is there an inner tube, or is just the orange foam used to carry the heat?

If just the orange foam is used, that must be some space age super high tech high temperature stuff!
