    Original tire size

I know I am preaching to the choir and am being "master of the obvious" here but; The complete transformation that you will experience when you take the 185/65-15 or whatever tires that are currently available off your early 911 and replace them with the tire size of the period and for which the car was originally designed/set up for will amaze you.

Particularly when you leave the road tail first.

Certainly in a touring capacity....not recommended for autocross or track work!

He didn't say it would be a positive experience! I sort of like a car that corners like it is on rails. I ended up swaping ends on my Targa late last year that I at least partially attribute to being used to my couple with a much improved suspension and sticky, wide tires. I go pick up the Targa from the painter in a couple of weeks.

I put period correct CN36 Pirelli on my 67s. 175s on 68 fuchs 51/2". Tires were a blast to drive.

I have always liked that clip
How would you like to have the job to go out and spin the 911...

It is interesting to see it corner and the lean it has...not like the way we set them up today with big t-bars and stiff shocks...
I have always wanted to set one up for the track under the Special Purposes Book specs with period correct rubber....
I think it would make you really appreciate the guys that raced them back when....kind of like the experience Don had between his coupe and targa

    Thumbs up

    That IS a great clip......

It's part of the footage of the factory 30 min. promo 'PORSCHE One for the Road' produced late in the 'F' series production run. If you look closely, at about 20 seconds in, you'll notice a parked 'G' series blue Targa... it's probably one of the first big bumper 911's ever tested....

    Cheers

I just made the same decision ordering 175's on deep sixes up front and 185's on 7R's out back for my 67 911. Looking forward to getting them !

Ahhhh the sixties... I envision myself one early Saturday morning wearing plaid shorts, black shoes with white socks smoking a cigarette heading to the hardware store to buy a bag of nails.
SWB cars are an acquired taste however once acquired theirs no turning back.
