This seems like a fair estimate on a very unique car:

That does indeed look like a steal. I know of a non-prototype 924 GTS here in Atlanta that is black with a special Porsche script cloth interior. This one at Bonham looks a lot nicer in white with the black leather interior and I love that early 80's Blaupunkt thats mounted on a stalk. Haven't seen one of those in a long time. In some ways this is the first of one of the highest production models that Porsche made - the 944. A lot of people will disagree with me but the 924's which came out in 76 were always so plain looking until they evolved into the wide body aggressive look of the 944. Rarely saw the 924GTS on the street.

While I was looking for an early 911 - I was temped to purchase a 924GT but before I could act on it I found my 1969T. IMO (and I may get flamed for this) the 924/944 are very balanced cars and with 944 flares are very cool and aggressive looking. I remember seeing it in 16 candles and was digging it.

A friend has a GTS and its a rocket but he blew the engine tracking it and it was $$$ to put it back again. I believe Jerry Woods has a few 924GT that he services every now and then.

I think there were two series of these cars the 924 Carrera GT and the 924 Carrera GTS. The GTS was the homologation run of 50 of which I know they built at least 53 and possibly a few more as I have been told of some higher #'erd cars. A friend of mine had #53, the car had some special features, I do not know if all cars were similarly fitted. #53 had 935 lollypop seats, Alum cage, sliding plexiglas side windows in fiberglass doors, and a rally spec engine with 935 boost knob. This car was Guards Red and I have been told that all the GTS' were Red.

The car for sale while interesting I do not think is one of the homologation run.

Any Porsche with Engine Nr. 1 has to be worth something I suppose. I don't know much about these cars but Fred Lavery (owner of local Porsche franchise) has had one for years and he's been trying to sell it forever. Ultra low mile car and I think last time I knew he was trying to get $30's for it.

I agree anything Porsche #001 will be gold someday but after looking at the fine print you have to add on a 15% Buyers Premium plus shipping and your in the "too much for me" range. I just had to follow up on the Lavery car. 30's would be a steal. They blew me off saying they have turned down 65K. These are neat cars and it probably is worth at least 65K to the right person.

I owned one of the 75 RHD 924 Carrera GT's back in the early '90's - a very fast/great handling car but not enough 'driver involvement' for me ...
