69S Final Dress Stock or Competition

The car is complete except for final punchlist. The pictures that arrived today were an early christmas present. It is now time for the final decisions regarding dress. The car for the most part has dictated direction. The initial inspiration for this car was Cris Huergas's 69S lightweight. As the dollars invested rose I was more and more drawn to the safe course of building a stock 69S. Then today's shots arrived and I realized my original vision of a 69S competition was built. Now I am torn as to my final finish details.

Looks sweet Luke. Man, do I love the look of light Ivory on a narrow body 911.

I vote for the competition-ish look. Don't do the rubber tie downs as holes have to drilled for that. Use Tilton's black PORSCHE side decal, H1s (please no hood lights), Talbot side mirror, and take out the wheel center caps. The rubber bumper trim presents a bit of problem for the comp. look. Not sure what to do about that though. Sure looks like a 'blank canvas' as it sits there. Have fun whatever you do.

Why not go 'sport' until the voice in tells you to go stock? Most of the proposed changes can be undone with a minimum of expense - so why not start sport? Live the dream - life is too short not to.

Oh, the holes in the bumpers can be easily filled with a little bondo - rather than welding them - then apply a little touch-up paint to match - then apply the stripes right over the filled holes. I did the same years ago with zero problems and the changes will be easy to reverse by locating the holes on the back side of the bumper and carefully drilling and dremeling them out.

No need to fill the holes in the bumper. The factory didnt, so why bother. Get a fairly heavy stripe tape and tape right over. I also vote for the competition look sans drilling any additional holes!

I agree, David Mixon's car has the tape over the holes, looks fine. Put the centercaps on the shelf for safekeeping. Don't drill at least until you have lived with it for awhile. Another vote for the minimalist competition look.

    BTW love the light ivory.

Beautiful machine, congrats! If you are feeling brave enough I say with minamalist sports version as well. I'm not willing to try it with mine, but I respect anyone willing to make the step.

    Sport look

Yes do the sport look. Since it is a LWB car the PORSCHE side scrip would look perfect up higher on the door exactly like factory did in the photo you have. I think it is placed right above the bottom of the door and above the tortion bar cap. If the car was a SWB car , I would say do it on the very bottom, but not on this car. Chris Early S Reg.#205
