    Wheels 7x15 fuchs 1970 911t

i have been getting conflicting information as to whether 7x15 wheels would fit on the rear of a standard bodied 1970 911. I was told only the 7R wheels would fit, but those are just beyond my price range.

I would love to fit 7x15 all around, I have heard some say this is possible, while others say only 6x15 will fit up front.

Can those who actually have similar wheels on their cars chime in. I am totally confused, and don't want to buy a wheel that does not fit.

    Much thanks.

I have 7 X 15's on the rear of my 73S. I'm using 205/60 15 BF Goodrich Sports and have had no issues at all. My car is set pretty low as well. I'm in San Diego, so if you want to throw my wheels/tires on for a test spin, I'm happy to do that. Let me know.

They fit but they are very close to the rear fenders, both at the lip and up about 2 inches at full compression. My car they rubbed on the right and the next car we tried them on, they rubbed on the left with 205/60s.
If you have good bushings and enough camber and the right tire and roll the edge etc.......
Just be careful if you have a good paint job. I don't recommend them because I have seen them destroy plenty of original painted fenders.
You can always go with the shorter tires or narrow ones.
My favorite look is 7s with streched 185/70s barely clearing a freshly painted fender.

I've agonized over the exact same topic, though in my case I want to run my 195/65s on the 7s: http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...ad.php?t=28844

Not quite as stretched as 185/70s but a little more breathing room than 205/60s. I agree that 7s all around are one of the best looks on an LWB.

Five months on from that post my set of 7s are still boxed in my garage, in need of shipment to Mr. Weidman. I think the main thing that's kept me from going forward is the notion of going with 15x6 chromed steelies. A 2.2T Sporto in a conservative Irish Green is about as visually mild a LWB 911 as they come; somehow steelies in my mind are in keeping with the overall look of the car (as if it couldn't deliver the performance the Fuchs promise). Still ease of maintenance and removal, not to mention the benefits of reduced unsprung weight, should push me over the edge.

I too have been contemplating installing a pair of 7s that I have had in my garage for a year now. Anybody have some pics with the 205/60s or the 195/60s on the rear of their cars?

We run 225/50 of 7x15 wheels. Does take a little fender rolling.

I ran 7x15 factory alloys on my lowered 1970 911E for years with no fender rolling or rubbing and now run them on a '65 912 (ditto) with 205/50-15s, which shorten the gearing by about eight percent. 205/60s will probably rub.

Different cars, fenders, tires (sizes are nominal, not actual), ride heights, and spacers make it impossible to say what will definitely fit and what won't. To answer any wheel/tire fit question, get a tire (even a used one from a tire store will do), mount it on the wheel, and try it on the car.

Found this thread while searching for "fender rolling." I think I may need to roll the rears as I think I see a little evidence of rubbing on the left rear. Compare this pic to the one posted by Harvey (who refinished my wheels FWIW):
