    912 / 5

    Can a 912 5 speed work well with a 911 motor?

Yes. No difference from an early 911 trans. The 912 used the 901 trans which works fine up to 250 hp motors. The only question is what gearing it has. Do you have the stamped numbers "901/xx" from the bottom of the case? That will tell you what gears it has.

That transmission has the gears A, F, M, S, X with a 7:31 ring and pinion. Those are excellent gear ratios for a street driven 911.
