Ahhhh the sixties... I envision myself one early Saturday morning wearing plaid shorts, black shoes with white socks smoking a cigarette heading to the hardware store to buy a bag of nails.
SWB cars are an acquired taste however once acquired theirs no turning back.
My dad had a Campera that had been "hot-rodded" by replacing the stock 175 with a 250. One of my long-term goals is to find one like it for my own collection. Thanks for sharing your Bultaco!

Very cool bike, John. Did you restore it or find it in that condition?
Quick story:
My dad broke his leg on a Bultaco dirtbike back in the late 70s.
His then-girlfriend moved into his apartment to take care of him and she never left.
They got married and had me.
Thanks, Bultaco.

Great story -
I should be so lucky (without the broken leg bit - maybe a stubbed toe would be enough ?)
No I didn't restore it. No interest in more projects right now.
Only thing it needs is a new set of Avons.
Please keep the insights coming - I am in love with the thing.
Like my car.
A real masterpiece of art and engineering - and a WHOLE lot of soul.

Hey Marco,
I'll bet you're glad Tony and Lois didn't call you Bultaco although it could have been worse, I have a client that called his son Triumph and his daughter Yamaha.
John, thats a beaut! Congrats! I'm just now getting up to speed on Bultaco's
I picked up Jim Pomeroy's 74 250 Matador MkV SD at an auction last year. It's been completely restored along with the fiberglass tank, fenders, etc. I have a great shot of Peter Fonda sitting on it at The Legends of the Motorcycle, International Concours de Elegance in 2006, with Jim Pomeroy looking on next to him. I'll see if I can scan and attach it in the near future. It was a total spur of the moment thing. I bought it and have it parked in the garage wondering what the hell to do with it. It sure is nice to look at. The design cues from this era are fantastic!
.....and BTW.....great Bultaco story Margo!Keep em coming....

WOW !!! That is so cool !
That Matador is a BEAST !
Def. post some pics.
JP was one of my hero's as a kid - we all wanted a Bultaco after he won.
I told a woman that was in the shop where I bought it that I would put it in my living room in the winter and just stare at it.
She said "You're not married are you"
Hugh said that people who like these bikes are all a little....different.
I asked him how so ?
He said diplomatically that they really... liked them a lot.
That they were a bit nuts.
Then pointing out a black and silver 62 on a shelf - he sighed and said that there was the most beautiful thing in the world.
