    suddenly idle to high

    Hi.
I have a 1971 911 T targa with 2.2L motor. It has around 150K and was recently rebuild (motor and trans)

This weekend I went with wife and daughter for a 2 day ride. The car was great, very good response, everything nice. However I didn't push it to far, once the mechanic said to gradually push it harder. So I'm shifting at 3k/4k and going till 4.500 max for now.

Today going back home I stopped at a gas station at the highway and the idle was 2.000 rpm. Big surprise! It never happened before. It was always 1.000 rpm. However the car drives very nice. When I arrived home and stopped it was still 2.000.

Tomorrow I'll drive it to the mechanic, but can you imagine what is going wrong?

    Many thanks
    José

Check the vacuum line on your distributor, if it came off your idle could increase that much.

well i tried to find anything disconnected from the distributor but i could see nothing strange. As much as I see, there are only the cables connected to the carburetors... My mechanical skills are very poor

Anyone have a picture of it so I can compare?

    Tks

    Problem solved.
It was the throttle linkage between the carbs not ajusted properly.
The mecanic said that maybee it was not tight enough and with the road trepidation it became loose. it was a 5 min adjustment

    cheers
