The ’73 model year (2.4) Porsches are fast becoming one of the more sought after long-hood cars due to being the last year of production and the larger engine. It is even harder to find clean (non-S) examples that are in excellent condition but not in the $50,000+ price range.

We are very fortunate to have stumbled upon this car. The car currently belongs to a local Southern California collector that is very particular about the condition of his collectible Porsches. It is easily one of the best driving 911 T’s I have ever experienced. Everything is tight and works, as it should. Even the A/C blows cold.

The car has a newer radio installed, but the original radio does come with the car (see pictures).

Within the last few thousand miles, the car has had a sympathetic restoration. Scott St. Peter with Carrera 6 did a complete repaint as well as various mechanical items. Also, TLG Auto recently did a complete top-end rebuild on the motor including rings. They also rebuilt the transmission at the same time.

When the engine was rebuilt, 2.2 E pistons were used giving the car 9:1 compression and an estimated 160hp. A 1986 Carrera oil cooler system with auxiliary fan were also installed. Furthermore, the suspension was fully rebuilt with Bilsteins. New ball joints, bushings, turbo tie rod kit were also installed. The brakes were rebuilt using factory “S” alloy calipers. A correct 350mm RS style steering wheel was installed as well.

The factory sport seats are the correct year seats that were refinished with corduroy inserts and tilt brackets. The 15x6 and 15x7 Fuchs were also restored.

This car is ready to be driven and enjoyed.

This Porsche comes complete with the COA, receipts, books, tool kit, jack, spare tire/wheel, and extra keys.

    Hi Tom,

The sunroof was an error (others, please chime in here. We all know about the COA errors). I have dealt with close to a hundred COAs on these cars and I would say that close to 50% of them have errors on the options. Don't forget, back in the day, these were hand recorded items with typicall human errors. Typically, Porsche was very good on getting the VIN, Engine, and Exterior color correct. After that, it was obviously guess work. I'm guessing that nearly every early S guy on the board has experienced an error on a COA.
    I hope that helps.

Someone from Europe is coming to look at it. I wish a local buyer would step up. The buyer might want to buy it without the sport seats...go figure. What do you think they are worth (approx.)? The car is on consignment, so the owner would probably just sell the seats since he doesn't have anything else to put them in.

    Paul,

The sport seats can likely fetch 5K to 6K depending on condition.

Sorry to hear that another early car may leave N. America.

    Take care,

Hope you won't mind my taking this thread off track, but I wonder whether the European buyers prefer the longhood 911s, or the 930s? Seems to me a 930 would be a lot of fun in Italy or Germany.

I think they still prefer the long hoods. Also, they really can't import anything before 1980 without getting hit with big VAT type taxes. So, the only 930s that appeal to them are the '78 and '79. However, I think a lot of buyers have misconceptions about maintenance costs of a 930. They really aren't much more if anything than any long hood.
