But the Factory remade it 'as new'.

Very surprising bid to say the least. I had to laugh out loud at Alain De Cadenet's comment that the RS was originally built as a M472 but was restored as a 'Lightwight'. Say what? It is still very obviously a Touring model.

I agree. I chalked up his cheerleading at the BJ sales a few years ago to a lapse in judgment. But the fact that he went on stage and very clearly misrepresented this car was very surprising and disappointing.

Brian, I think I can explain, and I might have actually tried in another thread about this car....but being as I'm too lazy to type it out, you'd have to PM or call me we can discuss. How are you anyway? Hope everything is good!

    Wrong side lettering

I think this car came from the factory with option code "439" Porsche side lettering "black". Quite a lot of money for a rebuilt, not to original car.

Doing good Stacy, thanks for ask'in.

Alain made a boo-boo when talking about a change from M472 to M471 during the restoration (like your car Stacy). The RS is still a M472 model.

This statement in the auction description has me wondering what they actually did at the Factory.
"....., this example features all new lightweight panels throughout, with the exception of the roof and basic structure."

Did they replace the front fenders, hood, and ducktail with new parts? Boy, that would be a major league bad move on a homologated RS. Certainly didn't seem to matter one bit on the final price though.

I saw that too and don't know what to make of it. I am wondering if the Carrera RS book is incorrect on that option for the this car. It would be pretty strange to have black side graphics, green wheels, and green lettering on the ducktail. Never say never in the world of classic Porsche though.
