    73S fuel lines

Are the fuel lines in the center tunnel plastic or steel in a 73S, and can they be replaced without removing the engine/tranny? Am I looking at a real expensive repair bill? Finally, are these fuel lines available?

    Thanks,

Nick they're steel on your 73. And why would you want to replace them? I think they will come out the front with the tank removed.

    Hi,

We always replace these on all the cars we restore but these cars are fully stripped. But these can be fitted in situ if required but it would be easier with the tank removed at least. They are pretty easy to make and just need a 90 degree bend at the tank end. They run in their own conduit in the centre tunnel, so remove the front tunnel carpet and the cover over the gear box linkage to gain access. There are seals either end, you can still buy the smaller 8mm ones but the larger 10mm (if you car has them) are NLA.

Thanks Alan and Ed. The new lines are being threaded in right now. Its a bit tricky, but as you both said, the removal of the tank made it easier. My mechanic is using stainless steel lines and it should be back running by tomorrow.
