For that price I think if it was me, I'd send my dash down to Tony at Autobahn in San Diego

Dave's idea sounds about right. Tony is the best with this type of work and it would be less expensive.![]()

Less expensive is ALWAYS preferable. The only problem is that I don't have a correct core dash to recover etc. My dash is the Porsche factory replacement w/o the seperate speaker grille.
I'll have to check with Autobahn and see what they can come up with. Tried to call earlier this week, but everyone was out to lunch.
Thanks for the advice.

It was only a matter of time before some one did this and if they are as good as they claim I think they will sell well regardlous of the cost.

Funny you should ask Andrew.. I was in communication with Lakewell (in Belguim) just this past week. The maker will be sending me some higher res images of the dash than those found on their site. I'll post them up here once I have them. He guarantees a factory fit and finish, but it comes at a cost $$$
I'd love to go with Tony @ Autobahn, but not having a suitable core dash to recover makes the total core + recovering about the same cost.
Maybe we could get a group buy with Lakewell?

for what it is worth i recently got a carpet set for front trunk from lakewell and am very happy with what i received. same heavy felt as the original, 4 pieces (across the front as well) unlike the usual 3 piece sets and the plywood supplied along with the pocket to slide it into.

Tony @ Autobaun is very good and would do an excellent job as a 'recover' but it would not look correct by any ways. These dashes were all heat formed plastics by very expensive molds/machines and the dash in question for big $$ is the correct and perfect replacement for good resale and factory perfect. These are the same dashes that Porsche (BO) is getting and I had purchased one for a '73S and is very very correct and very happy. Unless you finda parts car with a good dash(good luck!) this is the way to go if the recovered look is not what you want.
