    storing an engine & rear 65 911 tin

    what is the best method for storing a 911 aluminum case motor, oil in cylinder etc. What kind of oil ..Also will some identify the difference between a 65 & 66 rear engine tin, I think I might have a 65` here is a couple pictures, Thanks....Cliff

    I use anticorrosion aviation oil, called Aeroshell Fluid 2F. Probably any motor oil will do if you are pickling the case i.e. submerging it in oil, the cheaper the better. I poured five gallons of Rotella-T into my race car when I put it up for storage, you can't start the engine like that!

    65 and 66 tin are the same, hard to see the "bowl" on your part but even the 901/05 motors have the bowl to clear the dual Pierburg pumps, even after the Weber conversion from February, 1966. 304065 has it, April 1, 1966.

    i did wonder that , i have a 912 engine to store , and currently it is a rebuilt minter . so filling the engine with oil will work for long term storage especially if in a less than warm garage.
