Silent Auction for Roger Grago Benefit - Item#13 4-quantity Hal Thoms Porsche Books

As many of you know by now, Roger Grago (a close friend of all of us) has fallen ill with Brain Cancer. We will be hosting all kinds of events to help raise money for his family due to their lack of insurance. There is more info on Roger in the "General Information" section of this website.

So, we decided to leverage the generosity of so many of all of you and hold a silent auction to raise money.

To bid, simply reply to this thread with your name and your bid amount. This auction will end at 9:00am Pacific Time on Tuesday, November 2nd (1 week). The highest bed closest to the 9am date stamp on your post will win. Payments will need to be made by check made out to "Calvary Chapel Foothill Ranch" with Roger Grago in the memo and the auction item you won. They will need to be mailed to me at:

    AutoKennel
    1974 Charle Street
    Costa Mesa, CA 92627
    714-335-4911

Hal Thoms generously donated 4 of his Porsche Racing Milestones Books and he has autographed them as well. These are beautiful books that are a basic/must-have along side your Green RS book.

At the benefit Brunch, 4 people started the opening bid at $50. I will take the top 4 bids and they will all pay the highest bid placed.

    Paul,
From some of the charity auctions I've attended where they have multiple items, it sometimes works if people have to bid higher than the last person. If you have four items, then the 4 highest bidders win, paying the 4th highest price (the lowest winning bidder gets his bid, and so does the others) - the "clearing price". It obviously works better when you have higher priced items because there's more room to bid. But if you used $5 increments, it could work. (At a $90 bid, in $5 increments from here, all 4 bidders would get the book for $75, and all pay the same. Right now you've sold 1 book for $75 and 3 for $50. If the bids goes to $95, then you've sold 4x$80).
Just a thought. Thanks for doing this; it's great. I have yet to install the lights I won last month, but more importantly, I know the $ is going to help a fellow P-car guy.

I understand. I'm obviously not a professional charity auction person...but fortunatley, everyone on this board gets the jist of what we are doing. I'm sure that the other two people will spend the $75 for the remaining books. Thanks for the comments.
