Does anyone know what this is?

I've been meaning to ask if anyone knew what this is or if it ever served a purpose. To the left of the radar detector cable, ahem, is a little green gem (grommet) with a brass housing around it. It's been there since the old man got the car in the 80's. It's been bugging me for a while now. Thanks

Hard to tell from the photo, but could it be some sort of indicator light for an aftermarket alarm?

I'll buy that. It seem to be the unanimous answer. It hasn't done anything that I know of for 23 years now. Always looked kind of cool though. Antique bling, ha ha. Thanks guys

Ahh, but the car hasn't been stolen yet, right? Bow down before the deterrent power of the sentinel eye!
