    911 360 0017

Does anyone know why 0017 was (or is corrently being) restored with ST type front & RSR rear flairs, with brake ducts cut into the rears ?

I would have to assume this particular car was in this configuration at some point (after being a press car) . Does anyone know any history of this car after 1973 , or have any vintage photo's of any cars in this configuration ?

Restored at Gunnar Porsche. Sold 2 times since restoration. A prototype with alot of unusual parts.

I believe those are fairly old photos of the initial restoration. 0017 apparently had some Martini racing history, or at least the Martini livery on it, at one point in its life. The initial restoration project was going to take it in that direction along with with wider bodywork. After the project was started, it was decided to restore it as the RS "press car" as it is documented in Dr. Kondresham's RS book, which is also an important part of 0017's history.

The good news about 0017 is that it is a spectacular example of an RS that is driven frequently and used as it was meant to be.

    Thx ,

But what is the history after being a press car . Or as the factory stated in 1990 : "used for internal purposes by various coporate managers including the executive vice president of sales and marketing at that time , Mr. Lars Roger Schmidt." ?

Especially history from when it had wide body with rear brake ducts. Was it used in competition ? It's a pretty interesting car. No one has traced it back (or forward from Company ownership) ? I would think that (for example) the owner that letter was written to , might have known something of where it came from. And he , nor anyone since, ever researched it (it's been 20 years) ?

There was no widebody "history" after the wide bodywork was done at Gunnar. The rear fenders were put on early in the restoration process (as normal process) and then removed when the decision was made to go the "Press Car" direction. It remained in the shop and it was never fully assembled with the wide bodywork. One of the reasons that they didn't go forward with the widebody Martini configuration was that they were never able to come up with much in the way of a body of supporting history around the the Martini paint that was uncovered during the removal process, despite an aggressive effort to find those details. If anyone has that knowledge, I'm sure Kevin Jeanette and the current owner would welcome it.

    No ,

I mean with the wide body prior to Gunnar touching it. Not only do I have enough faith that Gunnar would not let an owner of a car as unique as number 17 , change it into some sort of RSR look in the 2000's time period. I do not think anyone that would own a car as this , would do such a thing in the 2000 - 2010 decade. I'm guessing that it was this way for some period in time prior to arriving at Gunnars.

Also , there is a photo there seemingly showing it was in brown paint with that wide /rear ducts bodywork prior to Gunnar touching it :
