    Anyone familar with 911L #64 ?

    Hi all,

About 7 or 8 years ago I purchased a copy of the book We At Porsche from Barnes and Nobles online out of print book service. The description of the book mentioned that it came with some "documentation." When the book arrived it came in a large box that was stuffed with all manner of Porsche history, most of it specific to a particular 1968 911L coupe purchased by a Dr Parsons of Oxford England.

I have scanned some of the more interesting items and will share them below but this is what I know. In the box along with the book I have every service record for this car from new until about 25K miles. I have the owners manual, letters from Porsche and Bosch regarding an issue with the rotor arm, letters from the Porsche dealer to Dr. Parsons, newspaper articles about the early 911's, the Great Britian Porsche Club resigration card and magazine from 1968. I have price lists for cars and accessories from the dealer circa 1967. Also, there are Porsche brochures from the UK from the late 60's thru mid-70's. And most interesting is some scrap paper from Dr. Parsons on which he wrote out a list of other cars he was considering at the time and assigned each a score in several categories. He must have really liked the Volvo 123 GT as well because I have a brochure for that car too.

The Porsche car # was 11810064 and engine # 3080121 which I believe tells me it is a 911 L coupe. I would love to reunite all of the history I have for this car with the car itself. They belong together. Actually I would love to have the car myself But I would be happy just knowing it was still on the road being enjoyed as it seems like Dr. Parsons really took care of this car and enjoyed it quite a bit. Is anyone on this board familar with this particular car by chance?

The items I have scanned below are less than half of the things that came in this box. I hope you guys find it as interesting as I do, but I just think it is fascinating.

The 15K and 18K service records:

Issue with rotor arm. Sounds like Dr Parsons like to drive hard "Rotor badly burnt due to customer running at peak revs for too long."

Dr Parsons considered several others cars as you can see by his ranking. Also this is the front and back cover of the Volvo 123 GT brochure.

Newspaper clipping from The Times and a letter from a Times writer that I guess Dr Parsons reached out to. There is an article on the 911L one one of the pages and the other I scanned only because I loved to see the asking prices of some of the cars that were for sale at the time. I hope you can see them in the scan.

Sorry for such a long post, but I just thought this stuff was worth sharing. This is all I have scanned for now, let me know if anyone knows anything about this car. Thanks!
