Reliable shop for PPI near Peoria, IL and opinions wanted

    Gentlemen

I am considering this car, it would be my first long hood.

I would like to know if there is a trustworthy shop in the Peoria area to have this car checked out.

I'd also like any opinions on this car.

Can't help on the shop for a PPI, but I would definitely get one for this car. From the photos, I can see the following:
    • Incorrect steering wheel
    • Incorrect radio
    • Aluminum decklid was not available in '67, but it's a valuable part
    • Square weave carpet is not correct for an S

I'm sure others will pipe in. This car may have already been discussed here- I've seen it on eBay before.

Good luck- let us know what happens.

Perhaps PM Scott Hansen (search his handdle "t6dpilot") or someone local to chicago who can advise.
Engine rebuild by "Fast Eddie" Apgar of NJ. Who is "Fast Eddie", and why is he famous? I know only of pool player, Felson.

    Hey Peter,

Peter from Chicago here. I would put a call into Brad Mayeur. He is in Peoria and is VERY well known in the 914 circles. I actually talked to him 2 weeks ago about a car here in Chicago that he was interested in. Great guy, easy going and I am sure he would be highly qualified to do a PPI for you. He has advertisements in all the Porsche mags as well, but, here is his info.
