    introductions, 72 911s targa

Greetings, new member here. I'm in the process of throwing my $$$ away at my '72 911s 2.4L targa in the valiant effort to make her next 40 years as good as the first 40. I'm glad to find this board and hope to use you guys as a resource for years to come.

For you purist shaking your head, I'm not responsible for the soft top, but it sure is fun to drive. I am the third owner. My father bought the car in 1974. Since then, its never seen water or slept outside. 68,500 total miles. The car was "updated" in 1999. Before that, it was yellow with black interior.

I'd also like to know more about its history. The vin is an early one 9112310016. Any resource/textbook/reference would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Mike

Welcome Mike, I own #9112300023. Is your manufacture date/sticker still on the door panel? Is it 7/71? By throw money away do you mean you're going to restore it back to the original color? Have you ordered the COA yet?

Hey guys, thanks. The date on the door panel says 08/71. Significance? Yes, I plan to restore the color to the original color.

yup, figured that out. Are there any books/manuals you'd recommend for a new 72 911a Targa owner?

    Welcome aboard Mike.

I am curious, is the stainless Targa bar still on the car or was that removed? Did the car ever have a front spoiler that you know of? You have a very early production '72 so I was wondering if the front spoiler was ever on the car. Thanks.

original MFI. Targa bar is gone. Front spoiler was not on the car in 74. Got the COA. Thanks everyone for your help.

Once it gets on the 911S Registry listing, your car will be the earliest 1972 911S Targa listed.
