    RSR Evocation project

My first dream of Porsche I live it three years ago by the purchase of Froggy, a beautiful yellow 2.7 (who came from USA)

begin after a beautiful 2.7 Grey Atlas, this change of color having make debate in French forum in his time..

A big work had been made with change of some parts of sheet steel, complete cleaning of

the inside but some gaps existed which will be erased this time this.

    Memories:

and finally i have driving with "My Porsche"

Nevertheless my dream was not complete, I continued to dream about the icone, about the 2.8RSR.

The real? Let us forget, less than 50 produced copies, astronomical price...

The replica, the evocation , to be able to roll little as in the real ..........

For it were needed some things:

A base, a few money, time, the courage, and the stomac to launch the project.

I had everything, but I had especially a dilemma, it was necessary to sell "Froggy" to buy one new base.

But "Froggy" I knew her, I knew what I left. A new base, I would have been able to Met by unpleasant surprises.

Then the decision fell, I would leave "Froggy", and thus on January 1st, 2011, I begin the Project.

This project will spend lots month or years, i will work by stage, the first the Look,

second all Rolling train and brake, third the engine

so now after this short presentation i will delivery my story

But it was also necessary to begin the dismantling.

Then sell parts, to complete the stake of departure for the purchase of the new parts.

    Quite slowly I accumulated parts.

    Finished cork

Implementation of the gudgeon and the Wheel Spacer on the press

Put in pressure ............... 5 tons will be enough

    Wheel Spacer with gudgeons

Preparation of the drilling for the pins, the Stainless steel 2mm is very good but to drill ...... caliente!

    the cap

Cleaning, brushing and degreasing before painting.

The brush, take up on a drill, cleans well ( a before / after )

Masking for having a stainless finish on 10mm

In painting, many of successive coat with 30 minutes of sandbank between every coat because this silicone paint have tendency to be poured

finishing on an exit, I am going to wait for a few days that solvents are evaporated well to clean well the stainless steel and the adhesive tape of masking.

    and now finish

in the future when i see if the weld are ok and don't broken, so i will "meuler" (polish?) each and make a new paint on.

Let us begin with the wire netting:

Let us start again by the front bumper in which I had already made an unrefined cut for the cooling of front radiator

I finished first of all the cut of the opening

    Creation of a size

    Cut of the plate

with the size and marks with orange adhesive tape, folding session

    Organized for check

Then drilling the fixation holes inside thus invisible in the final.

    Thanks Jim and JD,

for the cap i have see lots of old picture of RSR and ST Muffler with different sort of cap, and because i want to have two sort of noise small for ride with the familly and bigger to the sound equal to the look, i decide to make this cap. Asap when it's time i will post you a little movie to the sound with and without cap.

    Now the next stage

And I prepare me to work and think after this day no possible come back!

    But if you're crazy .............. you're crazy

Prepare the work on the back crossbar

    And then cut........................

without the crossbar the bumper go in better........

After have been made the hand on the crossbar let us going in serious things.

At first position the future wings!

To draw line ............. may draw a second line to 3 cms of the first for final adjustment.

And now the result of the love of an electric pair of shears and one 911.

Then put back Froggy on these new wheels

Then reassembly of the exhaust, the ducktail and presentationof the bumper "to see"!

And now to have a more real idea of the final result! I know not you but me i love it

i have take the good tool ! A kind of stretchable saw-bell to make of the big diameter and I was able to make my hole in the hood Polyester.

The idea is to let level the cork but not too much to avoid that we come to stole it to me in car park. (It will oblige me to open the hood to provide petrol but it is not a problem!)

    so the masterpiece

and i have found this parts for my rear bumper.

    finish the trunk cap.....
