    question about short geared transmission

    Hi folks,
I am trying to decide the appropriate custom gearing for my hotrod 911. I have a 2.7 RS high compression engine with DC cams, and twin plug. red line is 8k. She is an awesome engine. So to match this great engine, I need a great trans. I've no desire to run this car over 150 mph. Having done it already on the autobahn.

Would you guys mind giving me your views on these two options?

    Thanks,
    James

James it would help to see the rev drops between gears on the bottom of the chart you have posted.

Can we assume this is a 915 trans?

    Hey Cam
heck, it would help! ;-) something is happening when I past them in. I will try to fix it. Yes, its a 915, specifically a mag case with mechanical speedo from 1975. This is by design as I wish to keep that set up.
    Thanks,
    James

    Hi James
Have you considered having a decent 4 speed with tall 5th overdrive? Saves the motor on those long autobahn runs.
We have done that in the past where clients did not want their engines screaming at 90 mph cruising speeds

lemme know and i can work up a chart for you
