    bottle or pump

Does anyone know if my Italian 73S, built 10/72, would have come with a pump or bottle for the space saver spare? TIA Steve

Sorry Steve, no answer to your question from me. Good question though.

Best guess would be: If it's an early # in the 73 MY, then bottle. Late cars, pump. That is, if it follows the RS logic.

Thanks for the input, I'm going with bottle. Lemon my 73S is ROW, Italian (m34) spec. It came standard with the trombone oil cooler, row 013 pump and an 85L gas tank which requires the use of a space saver tire. Some cars had an air bottle and some a pump which plugged into the cig lighter.

i think that is correct for your car to go with the air bottle

I think that the cutoff for the air bottle versus compressor would be the same for all cars that had the space saver. for the RS it is documented as jan 10 1973 for all export markets. so i think that your 1972 car would have had a bottle

Not 1973MY , but here is a photo of the 85L tank option , M424 , from a 1972 options book (note the black plastic tank . I could be wrong , but I think any very early 1973 cars with this option would have a black tank. I say that because i've seen a factory photo of a Homologation Carrera RS 2.7 with a black tank).

    Steve,

I'm curious. What is the date stamp on your plastic tank?

Oh BTW, has anyone seen or have the style bottle shown with the black tank? I don't think I have seen another on like that.

    Brian,

I think Opel (Diplomat?) in those days had a smaller bottle than the one Porsche offered. Not sure if it is the same though as pictured.
