    Background on 1966 911 304088

    Hey All,

My new years resolution is to find out more about my 911. I purchased the car last fall from Baron (Chuck), who was consigning it from another E.911S-member (who shall remain nameless for now as I don't want to start flaming anyone just yet). I essentially absolve Chuck from any responsibility to provide background as an intermediary seller. Although, now he won't return my calls either... maybe it's me

Anyway, the seller (did I mention he is often on this forum) was in some limited contact with me prior to turning into a pumpkin and dropping all communication. That being said, I would really like to see if any history on the car exists. The car is great fun to own and in very good shape. All of the numbers are correct per the COA. I am slowly turning the unoriginal/incorrect things back to the way they should be, and I would really think it's worth it to try and dig up its history. I figure with only 1700 1966's produced, the odds of someone here knowing more might be fairly good (really good if the PO would contact me for a 5 minute discussion).

If anyone has some info, I would really appreciate the time.

    Details:

    y/m/m: 1966 P. 911
    Prod. Date: April 1, 1966
    VIN: 304088
    Engine: 907312
    Colors: (out)Black/(in)Black (now Black/Red)
Possible origin: Southern US (was in florida)

Thanks for any leads. If the PO has some holiday spirit and wants to contact me, I'd still really appreciate it.

    Dan

I'm sorry, but I can't be of any help in providing information. I just wanted to say great picture - love the red 356 side by side with the black 911. Your 911 looks great. The black over red color combo is one of the best. I'd love to see more. I'd also love to see pictures of your 912.

I can't help you with the seller, but can tell you that your car was made the same day as mine, April 1, 1966, and has an engine number (907312) that is only four digits off from mine (907316). I'm surprised it wasn't Irish Green-- they must have painted the cars in batches and then assembled in batches, hence the non-sequential flow of VIN against production date.

    Hey Rob,

Thanks for the endorsement. I think we actually met at the Deutsche-Marque event last year. Are you planning on attending any of the local events this spring? Are there any worth attending in the mid-Atlantic.

    Dan,

I helped Chuck purchase this car off a Craigslist ad in St. Pete and reversed some of the transgendered 'restoration' the PO had performed. Chuck sold you his/this car. I don't know you, other than some boarderline harassment emails and postings by you, and don't owe you an explaination or history in any way, shape, or form... but here is where the 911 came from and that's all I know of it's history: http://thebodyworksfl.com/

I did make the D-M last year, great annual event. I try to attend as many local events as possible, it seems to be shaping up as a good year of events. There really aren't any not worth attending, mostly just a function of time and scheduling conflicts. Hope I see your car at a few.
