I can't remember where these clips fit. I believe they go on the splined shafts, but where?

Why are there two kinds of knob?

A shout-out to Tony Garcia for the upholstery and restoration of the bases, and the folks at Chrome Masters for the rechrome of the recliners.

It is not a small undertaking to put the seat springs in the recliners. I ended up using a piece of bar stock with a couple of M6 screws, about an inch long, threaded through it. One screw engages the center of the spring and the other one engages the hook on the spring. You press down and use the bar to torque the spring around until the hook fits in a tab welded to the recliner stamping. This is sufficient to get it on-- you then use a hammer to seat it on the tab. Takes about 10 seconds each if you're doing it right. It is impossible without fabricating a tool.

Seatback adjuster spline. They limit how far the release knob can release. There's another thread on why some knobs have logos.

So THAT'S how those seats should be shaped. Mine, and most I've seen, gave up their shape (and comfort/support) long ago. Makes me want to get mine re-padded and forget about reproduction sport seats!
