New Product! "D" shaped headrests from Soterik

Another item that took a while to get right, but it's done and will be available soon.

These are the "D" shaped headrests that went from 68 to 73 (late 72 and 73 vinyl were Peanut shaped). These are once again as exact as I can get them, including the internal construction.

The foam took a couple of tries, but we've got the subtle curves sorted perfectly.

What's posted below are a pair of the new items, complete with clear zinc plated posts, stamped steel base plate with welded hardware, and the foam headrest has a steel plate molded into the base of the foam. All details just like original. We sacrificed a few of the originals in order to get these correct.

A second pic showing an old foam headrest and my new one to show the shaping.

Lastly a picture of the internal hardware and an original right next to it for comparison.

I've had Tony look at these and we know they work with his patterns and they fit into the seats nicely.

Michael with his new "Vintage Seats" company will be using our headrests as well (Thanks Michael!)

Pricing will be $200 per pair (maybe slightly less..), availability will be about a month...

Thanks for all the continued support!!

BTW, thanks to those of you who have been waiting patiently for my second run of SWB standard horn grills, the plater was shuttered for a week due to the snow storm and then the ice storm here in Seattle. I'm pushing him hard, and hope to have the grills in a week.

    Nice work as usual.

I think you and Carl Bauer should pool your resources and start reproducing early 911 bodies

Eric, I am really impressed. It looks like you are having a lot of fun with this, too. Have you thought about making sunvisors, especially for us Targa owners? Tom

    Great product Eric.
Frank incase it helps dash pads are already available all be it expensive. The charcoal canisters are a VW part and used on Karmann Ghias etc so can be found quite easily. HTH

    Eric you have PM.

Wow. So impressive. How many people would take the care to match the originals so well even on parts that can't be seen?

Second on the dash pad. I'm not sure what is currently available, but I would make a wager that they are not as close to original as anything Eric would put his name on.

Thanks for all the kind words guys...

I've utilized Carls skills in the past year for a project that I can't do any longer due to some current issues, but perhaps in the future. Whenever I could use Carl I will! He's far more talented than me, he actually does a great deal of the work on his own projects, I just stand next to the welder or tool and die guy and point at something and say "that's wrong"... The chrome shop guys think I'm close to being on the payroll for as much time as I spend there.

I've tried very hard for a year to find someone to do visors. I believe that Stoddard now is offering them as Porsche Classic has them in Europe. I know that doesn't cover all the guys out there but I think it covers a lot of years. When those showed up, I quit as I can't compete. If they did some, they can do others, and may be working on the other years and applications.

I also tried to do the map pockets, but that's another project I couldn't find anyone to do. I "might" try again, but this time, just make the trim for people wanting to restore their own.

    MORE items still to come!

Thank you again for the continued support! And I do appreciate the PM's and emails with product suggestions. I look into all of them, and I have a few that I'm pursuing.

    Thumbs up

    Nice work!
And like always, with all right details like Porsche did!

    Compliments!
