Thread: Aluminum rear lid (shock)

    Aluminum rear lid (shock)

I own a 1970 S which has the correct aluminum rear id. I have searched for the correct shock and cannot find one. I have already purchased three and was assured from each seller the damper was for the lighter aluminum lid. One must have been for a lid with a tail as it flew up so hard it nearly took my head off!

Does anyone know of a vendor has the lower pressure rear lid shock for sale.

    Thanks,

    John

    Why a new one?

There must be tons of original shocks which are now too tired for a steel deck lid but will be perfect for your aluminum one...

That was a pretty good idea!

I was thinking about this the other day. What ever happen to the aftermarket one that you had to release by hand. It would lock when extended and you'd flip a lever to close. Those would be perfect...
