I have a 68 911S that's I had to take home on a trailer. I was told it needed a new clutch cable when I bought it. I order the new cable from Pelican and upon taking the old one out, I noticed they were the same length.

Next I thought it must be a bad clutch. I just dropped the engine and transmission and have found the clutch to looks almost new with no signs of wear or burning. Further, the flywheel show no signs of wear or burning, but the flywheel teeth are worn in a pattern. It goes from a maximum of about 5/16” wear to about 1/8”. That is as measured in tooth width and not tooth depth. See photo.

In summary, the cable appears right, the clutch and flywheel appear almost new with the exception of tooth wear. In spite of this, I can’t engage the clutch??? It’s like the cable is too long, but I’ve got it adjusted as short as possible.

Any ideas???

Thanks
