1969 912 perhaps with Polo motor

Not mine. As advertised over on Pelican. It says numbers matching, but that ain't no 912 motor I've ever seen. Looks more like a Polo motor. If so, the engine is worth more than the asking price for the whole car. Looks very interesting, and the buyer doesn't seem to know what he has.

    that's just a 4 cylinder with a 911 style shroud...

I'm not that well versed in the 4-cyl engines, but have been considering getting a suped up 912 for its light weight and balance. In my research I only saw Polo engines with that fan setup. In any case, it looks like it might be a very fun 912.

I agree- that would be a fun hot rod and a much friendlier starting price if you want a SWB.

Looks fun. Polo engines are easy to spot by the distributor, they're twin-plug.

911 style fan kits are popular in VW performance circles.

In the picture notice that the generator pedestal is on an angle, VW ones are horizontal, that is a 356/912 style engine.

Very good eye Ed Mayo. Yes that is 912 engine hince the matching numbers statement? Looks great doesn't it? For those interested here is a Raby motor I commissioned years ago for a 56 356 coupe project. It is a 2.237 liter TIV with Sharpbuilt Fan shroud (notice stock oil cooler location maintained) and 911 fan and alternator. Annendhorp headers, Weber 40s producing a dyno verfied 170 horsepower with about the same amount of torque. These measurements are at the flywheel and on pump gas.

    Thanks for looking.
