    Very early 8x15in Fuchs

Just picked up a 'job lot' of early 6/7/8 x 15in Fuchs & amongst them were a pair of 8's dated 2/'71 which must make them some of the earliest produced.

The '2' at the end of the part number seems to have been stamped over the top of a '0' but there are no signs of them being modified/welded/widened (although they still have tyres on at the moment).

Anyone seen an earlier-dated 8x15in Fuchs wheel ?

    Harvey ?

    Good find.
I have seen 1/71, but not very many. 2/71 would some of the first order from Fuchs for the initial 50 or so. The dates quickly taper off until they ramp up for the 73MY. Even many of the 73 RSs had old stock when fitted after delivery.
I have even had one in the original rough (RSR) finish. Most have the street finish or what is left of it.They had the numbers stamped over just like the photo. Your wheels look original and very collectable.

I had a pair from 5/71, but these have had the outer rim revelded some time. They had silver spokes and black suroundings under thick coats of black paint. Strange they appeared here in Norway, but was probably from an imported car. Sold to Autofarm some years ago BTW.

I guess these were only ment for racing before they became option on the 73RS?

Just courious, what is the earliest known 7x15 (not 7R)?

Yes, they were developed for the ST and were a race dept part until they were changed to a production part for the 73RS about Mar 73 or so.
The earliest 7,8 or 9s that I have seen was 1/71. The 11s were later, I'll have to check my notes, but about 5/72.

    I've certainly had a pair dated 6/'72.

Indeed the 271 wears off easily.
I had them redone by Keller in Germany last month in regular RS street finish.
