    Irratiional Exuberance Finale?

To some it is blasphemous to equate our treasures with Loot. However after taking a look at the annual premier venue for liquidating your treasure ,it looks like ,unless you had a 73 RS LtWt to pedal your ship may have departed. Any expert opinions?
(I got to enjoy my fleet/mobile IRA(?) this WE.)

I agree in general... see last page of this thread, there's a few outliers, they have to be "over the top" to garner the $$.

note that the 356 prices were also unremarkable, though it appears that some of the Speedsters did hit the expected $ range.

I do not know. I was told by a weekend participant that Mecum (BJ Lite) was a very poor venue for Porsches.
Looking at the results posted by Eric I would venture we will be seeing those cars at some of our favorite classic dealerships marked up to current market.

I was at most of the auctions this weekend and sold a car at RM. Mecum felt like a circus compared to the other venues, I'm glad George (local Seattle guy) got top $$ for his RS, in spite of the crowd and atmosphere. Most of the 911s I saw weren't great. Mark

When I see the price on the new Boxer being mentioned to be about 95,000. I don't know if the cars have gone up in value or all the currencies have become worth less.

Several of us R Gruppe/Early S Reg. guys were at Goodings LATE Sunday night......the 3rd from the last car was a '72 2.4 911S, Light Ivory, green interior with Recaros done in green houndstooth. Car was very nice ( damned near perfect!) but at the wrong end of the consignment as it was 10 oclock when it hit the ramp.

It hammered at $195K plus commision. So people waited around to bid on that car and it got serious money in spite of the time.

Really good cars are getting really good money.....the Mecom cars got what they should have.

There were two Speedsters at Gooding....ex Seinfeld '58..nice and correct, Rudge wheels, except color was somewhere between Meisen and Aquamarine. Still brought $300K plus commission...the other, also a '58, in a too dark almost brownish Ruby Red with all repro trim and generic Auto's interior, but straight and original pan brought $210K.

Just for completeness, it was a '73. Just like mine Not that I'm selling, but it becomes so much easier to justify the restoration to the wife when cars are going for these crazy prices !!!

    Riddle me this:

    How do you eat art?
How do you cook a car?
Wine I get but I figured it would be used for barter and Wild Irish Rose, Thunderbird, Night Train and other fine vintages are just as useful as a Château Mouton-Rothschild.
