Emblems on a 72 deck lid

We're doing a 72 911T and I need some help on the correct finish of the deck lid letters.
The car seems to have had silver PORSCHE but the 911T looks like it was black. Shouldn't the 911T be silver like the Porsche???

    Thanks for your help.

Black is most common for 72 but you could order what you wanted. What color is the car?

The color is Signal yellow. This car has silver script now but it has been repainted. There is some debate about which is original. We're going to leave it silver.

    Thanks for the info guys.

The originally black letters are often faded to the point where they look silver. Same seem to have happened to black anodized window trim on many 74-78 cars. I would replace with new black anodized script, looks great on new yellow paint!

Here are the original emblems on my '72. The letters are not silver. They are black anodized which has faded over the years. In person, they have that purplish hue that faded anodizing gets. I am certain this setup was standard on Ss and fairly confident that it was the same for Es and Ts as well.

There was no difference for T, E, S and no option available on 2.4l. (as it was silver/gold for 2.0/2.2's.)

On 2.4's, the black anodizing turned into silver, sometimes with a purple hue, as others confirmed.
Patina is always better than new.
