    SWT Latch Mechanism

I'm determined to get my parts cataloged between now and the first of the year, so I've been pulling stuff out. I ran into these:

    Name: latches.JPG
Views: 201
Size: 437.6 KB

and I have a couple of questions.

I know they are very rare but I haven't seen reproductions. The Softies were produced in such low volume that it's probably not economically viable to produce them. In any event, as you can see, I'm missing three of the female receivers that attach to the soft window frame. There's nothing fancy about them - do you think a machine shop could do these?

Also, one latch is missing the tiny ball bearing (like a very small BB), spring and screw that holds them in. It doesn't need that to function, but it would be nice to have everything complete in working order. Anyone have any ideas if those parts can be found?

    Thanks,
    JohnA

The female should be relatively easy to make. The ball bearing mechanism (ball/spring/screw) should be easy to fashion out of over-the-couner parts. It is nice since it holds the handle in the closed position. The other nice thing you have is the black plastic stop that prevents the handle from over-opening and seperating the male indexed part from the female receiver.
The SWT chrome trim is probably a better find of the bunch. VHTF!

Freezing, I can use three of the receivers. Please let me know if you can make them and what the cost would be.

    Thanks,

expensive is a small word , the handles are 1200$ each , not per pair , each
and the receiver are porsche specific, not MB
