    Stereo speakers

I would like to install a pair of speakers in my '68.

From what I have gathered, the car only ever came from the factory with a center speaker.

If I was to install a pair of speakers, would I be better to install in the footwell or in the door? If I was to install in the door, what speaker covers should I use?

    Thanks

There is a guy on ebay who mounts two small speakers in the oval center speaker. It works ok but is not stellar. There also used to be a company, I think Moch 1, which made an under dash mount which held 2 speakers and a rear shelf unit which also held two speakers but they loose the vintage appearance. I had a 67S which I put in 2 Panasonic self contained speakers pn the floor behind the front seats. They worked pretty well and in my 67 hotrod I'm uising an SC rear shelf with Blaupunt speakers which work real well. I usually like to just listen to the motor but sometimes theres nothing better then some good tunes.

Some do the reat seat delete and add a parcel tray in their place. 6 x9 speakers can be easily added to it. Do a search on rear parcel shelf to see what the shelf looks like - and where you can substitue speakers for the cubby doors.

Please don't cut your one year only '68 door panels. Trade yours to someone who already has the holes cut out and wants original un-cut panels. There are lots of other options: kick panels, under dash, parcel shelf "Clover box", rear seat delete, Woody's dual speakers..............

Don't cut anything. Sacrifice quality of sound if need be. Hide them under seats, under the dash, or anywhere else. It's one of those things that bugs me I guess. When you have a factory perfect car and then ruin it with a modern radio and/or new speakers in the wrong places, it just bothers me. I've seen way too many '57 Chevys with an iPod dock. I'd hate to see the same thing happen to a Porsche.

    Kicker 11ds682 6x8 Component Speaker W20mm Twt ......

These speakers replaced the rear factory units in my Car. I also installed the Kicker 11ds682 6x8 Component Speaker W20mm Twt in the front doors. Combined with the JVC Arsenal KD-A735BT CD receiver I installed at the same time, these speakers produced excellent Sound. I didn't get any distortion, even with the volume turned way up . I've also got a 10" woofer being pushed by a 250 watt amp to round out the low end. These are the pair of speakers that you want.
